WHAT IS PHYSICAL CULTURE?
Physical culture is dance exercising which includes standing floor routines, aerobic warm-ups, basic ballet and modern dance using modern music. "Physy" promotes grace, posture, co-ordination and discipline from 3 years of age to Seniors and Ladies groups. The choreography teaches the relationship of music to movement, rhythm and musical interpretation.
Our classes are a great way to make new friends, enjoy fitness and fun as well as learning new routines each year. You can come and just do classes or you can join in the competition spirit.
Competitions for individuals are held annually at various levels - intraclub, interclub, zone and culminating in Nationals which are held at State Sports Centre for Juniors/Ladies and Sydney Opera House for Seniors/Super Ladies. There is also an annual Teams Competition for each age range which gives each Club the opportunity to present a team of eight girls in "perfect harmony". This competition is challenging but very rewarding as it instils teamsmanship and sportsmanship in the team members.
Physy girls have been involved in the 2000 Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Easter Show-Australia Day-Dance Expo Displays, Sydney Christmas Parade, The Darling Harbour Christmas Pageant to name a few...........
At Connells Point Physy Club we offer fitness extension programs for increasing strength and flexibility, a variety of weekend workshops including nutrition, motivation and confidence building, as well as competition preparation classes.
Give us a call if you think Physy is something you would be interested in...we would JUST LOVE to hear from you.
In the meantime, have a great day!
